About the Project

The Enterprise-Ready Software as a Service (ER SaaS) project was started to provide a working definition for what it means to build a SaaS application that is fit to serve the needs of the enterprise market. With input from professionals in infrastructure, software engineering, and quality assurance, the desire is to provide a rubric by which to measure the overall viability of an application when it comes to serving the enterprise market.

ER SaaS provides a foundational framework, but does not specify the means in which each pillar is implemented. That should be dictated by the functionality available in the technology stack.

We believe that the terms “enterprise software” and “software as a service” are not mutually exclusive. Rather, they can be used in tandem to describe the quality and the delivery of the application, respectively.
